How it works

• Thermal test: first, the stone's thermal conductivity is measured to differentiate natural diamonds, lab diamonds and moissanites from diamond simulants such as colourless sapphires or cubic zirconia
• First optical test: if not a simulant, UV light is projected onto the stone table to distinguish diamonds (natural or synthetic) from moissanite
• Second optical test: another UV light test is performed to differentiate natural diamonds from HPHT/CVD lab diamonds or type IIa diamonds
